The following is an attempt to make classification invisible and not usable in the future.
1. Create a new user-defined field OBSOLETE for CLASSSTRUCTURE/
Go to Database Configurations – bring up object CLASSSTRUCTURE:
Switch to Attributes tab and click New Row and enter OBSOLETE as the following example:

2. Put the Obsolete ad check box to the Classifications app.
Go to Application Designer and bring up app ASSETCAT.
Click the Classifications tab.
Click a Checkbox from the Control Palette and drag it to the desired spot.

3.Go to Classifications app and you will see the checkbox Obsolete?. If you check the Obsolete, then it is not to be used in the future for the security groups. My example shows the classification SR-TOCLOSE
I bring up the Classification SR-TOCLOSE and mark the check box Obsolete? Save the classification. Note that this classification is for usewith SR.
4. Go to Administration à Conditional Expression Manager to create a new condition shown as the following example:
Type: EXPRESSION
Expression:obsolete=0
5. Put the condition in Data Restriction for the groups of users that you do not wish them to see or use the classifications that are obsolete.
Go to Security Group and bring up the group(or groups) that you wish to restrict from seeing and using obsolete classifications.
I use MAXADMIN as an example in my test.

Switch to Data Restriction and in table window click New Row:
Object: CLASSSTRUCUTRE, type: QUALIFIED, Condition: 1019 (my sample) image.
Save and log out and log back in.

6. Go back to Classifications app and the classification SR-TOCLOSE which has obsolete checked is restricted - not displayed any more.
7. Go to SR application and you should not see SR-TOCLOSE in the Classify dialog.
Create a new SR and in Classification, click Classify. The classification SR-TOCLOSE, although usewith SR but is obsolete is not shown in the Classify dialog.
